Jefferson Elementary School, New Jersey donation 2013

The 6th grade students of Jefferson Middle School,  Jefferson Township, North Jersey. As they did last year, wrote a poetry book which they sold to raise $1185.37 for LGHLC.

The teachers and students invited Mr, and Mrs. Shivdat to the school where they did a presentation in the Gymnasium and presented them with the check and 10 boxes of books and school supplies for our Centre.

Inspiration from two little girls

Twelve year old Rebecca and her friend Molly purchased a Casio 76” Piano Style Electronic Keyboard that comes with a stand for the new Lusignan-Good Hope Learning Center (LGHLC).

The girl’s motivation was fueled by their compassion for the Guyanese children and their love for music along with the desire to give the gift of music.  They both wanted to bring music to the center and Rebecca is planning on being there for the opening of the center and will teach the children how to play simple songs and how to use the keyboard.

Kindergarten Kids in Texas helping our Kids

What a lesson to teach your kids!!! Never too young to learn about sharing, compassion, caring and helping others.

The Kindergarten class of Indian Creek Elementary school in Texas collected 100 books for our Kids at LGHLC.

Jumati – #1 Supporter

Jumati Persaud is our #1 fundraiser, advocate, volunteer and humanitarian. She is the organizer of the Annual Lusignan Reunion which is held every summer in the Flushing Meadows Park.  Jumati also raise funds for projects at the Lusignan Primary School, the Lusignan Community Centre and the Hindu Temple.

Some of her “projects” for the Centre included:

• Raising funds via raffle at the Lusignan Reunion
• Provided chairs for events at the Centre
• Sponsored Lunch for the kids
• Sell tickets for the Annual Fundraiser
• Big advocate of the cause

Dr. Somar – Medical Advisor

Dr. Rohan Somar — Financial donor as well as Medical advisor.  Dr. Somar is always available to provide medical advice on issues regarding the kids.  He is always available to help, a couple of the cases he gave advice and helped on are:

• A child with cancer – gave advice on the diagnoses and care.
• A child with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) –  Dr. Somar was kind enough to visit a  nine year old boy who had surgery on his leg at age seven.   He was walking prior to this surgery but lost the use of his leg after the surgery.  The boy’s mother came to our center seeking help.  Dr. Somar who was visiting Guyana at the time, was kind enough to visit the child at his home conduct an examination and advise the parent. He explained the condition and the impact it will have on their child and their lives.  They were unaware of his condition being MS. Dr. Somar donated a pair of pediatric crutches which allows the kid to move around.
